Halloween Make up tips

Want to look extra special this Halloween, well nows your chance with our free Halloween make up tips.

Age yourself by 40 years

Want to see what you’ll look like in another 40 years? Try adding some liquid latex wrinkles to your face. You can get the latex at any costume store, and applying it for the desired effect couldn’t be easier:

Puff up your cheeks and apply a thin coat of liquid latex with a small sponge.

Keep your eyes shut tightly and apply some latex to the lower corners of your eyes.

Once the latex is dry, release the air from your cheeks and you’re ready to apply a coat of foundation makeup. You can add some food coloring to the makeup to create a skin tone in your choice of colors.

The latex will make your eyes look droopier and saggy and your skin will be wrinkled to perfection. Now you can accessorize from here and add other makeup effects as needed.

Here’s a great trick for adding a hairy wart to your face. Put a drop of false eyelash glue onto a peppercorn and put it on your face.

Then just glue a few strands from a paintbrush and you’re the proud owner of a very ugly wart! Just be sure not to put it too close to your eyes or you’ll also be the proud owner of swollen and painful eyeballs that may look great but won’t leave you feeling all that well.

You can dress up your hands by applying colored foundation makeup and highlighting prominent veins and wrist bones by shadowing around these areas to make them stand out. Use a darker foundation to create liver-spots.

Zombie make up

If the idea of instant aging doesn't appeal to you, the zombie bride is an easily achieved effect.

Other than a dirty and tattered white dress, all you'll need to do is paint your face and lips white, using theatrical greasepaint, and apply thick black rings around your eyes.

Now gel your hair up and run your fingers through to create the worst “bad hair day” you’ve ever had.

Throw some gummi worms in for effect and presto, you've returned from the dead!

another great option is to use Bloodshot Crazy Lenses, fun and easy to use contact lenses suitable for  all,

These Blooshot lenses offer no added prescription powers so they are great fun for all who want to add Special Fx to their Halloween costume.

Two paintbrushes, Small saucepan (if using a microwave, you will need a glass 1-cup measuring cup)

Ingredients

Cornmeal Corn syrup Red or brown water colors or makeup blush or rouge One envelope unflavored gelatin, like Knox brand.

Directions

1. In a small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over ¼ cup of cold water. Let stand one minute. Then stir over low heat until all of the gelatin is completely dissolved. (Microwave Directions: In a 1-cup glass measuring cup, sprinkle one envelope gelatin over ¼ cup of cold water, let stand 2 minutes. Microwave on HIGH {Full power} for 40 seconds, stir well, then let stand 2 more minutes until gelatin is completely dissolved. Let it cool completely before using!)

2. Paint or smear a thin coat of corn syrup on your skin the shape you want your scabs to be.

3. Cover the syrup with a thick layer of cornmeal. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then carefully tap off the excess.

4. Use the paints or makeup to color the cornmeal patches.

5. With a paintbrush, paint the COOLED gelatin mixture over and around the scab. Do this VERY GENTLY so you don't brush off the cornmeal. (The gelatin "seals" it in place).

Witch make up

  • You Will Need latex prosthetic witch nose (optional)
  • spirit gum adhesive (only if you're using the nose)
  • spirit gum adhesive remover
  • black grease paint make-up
  • green grease paint make-up
  • brown grease paint make-up
  • red grease paint make-up
  • make-up brushes, such as a lipstick brushes make-up sponges baby powder
  • clean white sock
  • clean shaving brush
  • rubbing alcohol Options

Black out wax for teeth will give your witch a toothy evil grin and chewing Raven's Revenge candy will turn your tongue a nice shade of black.

Before Starting

It's a good idea to put some alcohol on a cotton ball and go over the face to remove all traces of oil before beginning.

Fill the clean white sock with baby powder and tie a knot in the end. You'll be using this powder sock to set the makeup. Setting greasepaint make-up with powder will make it last and last. To remove the make-up when the evening is finished, use anything grease or oil based to instantly dissolve it -- cold cream, baby oil, etc.

Apply a thin coat of spirit gum adhesive to the edge of the nose and the areas of skin where it will be applied. Allow the spirit gum to set for a minute or so then press the nose down, sealing the edges. Hold nose in place until adhesive dries and it is firmly in place, wait about 3 minutes.

After the nose was applied, Pete took some green greasepaint on a make-up sponge and apottily applied it to Crystal's face. Notice he didn't cover her entire face in green, the effect we were going for here was almost of moss or mold growing in patches and shadows.

After applying and blending the green, Pete used dark brown to bring out the features like wrinkles ad eyebrows. Even though Crystal's natural face is not wrinkled, Pete followed her natural laugh lines and facial structure when applying these wrinkles so they would move with her face and show expression.

Pete then lined under Crystal's eyes in red for a scary effect (check to be sure that your red make-up is safe to use in the eye area, not all of them are). For the mouth, Pete used black greasepaint as lipstick. At this point it's time to go outside (otherwise it makes a mess) and powder. Have your subject lightly close their eyes and hold their breath while you lightly tap the entire surface of the face with the filled powder sock. Take a shaving brush or baby's hairbrush and brush away the excess powder and your ready for your costume!
