Halloween Safety for Adults
Essential Halloween tips for Adults for a safe and worry free time

(1) Welcome trick-or-treaters with your porch lights and any exterior lights on.
Why? This makes trick-or-treaters feel welcome, and will also prevent them from having accidents or accidentally damaging your property.
(2) Patrol your street occasionally to discourage speeding motorists, acts of malicious mischief and crimes against children.
Why? This will show good will at this time of the year, and ensure the safety of the children within your community.

(3)Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your police department immediately. In many areas you can dial 9-1-1.
Why? This will help combat crime and keep a safer community.
(4) Candlelit jack-o-lanterns should be kept clear of doorsteps and landings.
Why? They can accidentally be knocked over and injury somebody or cause damage to your property.
(5) Consider using flashlights instead of candles to light jack-o-lanterns.
Why? Flashlights are alot safer as they will not start fire as a candle would.

(6) Keep pets away from doors so children will not become frightened.
Why? Sometimes pets can react very differently from their usual behaviour when they see somebody dressed up as an alien, monster etc, this could cause your pet to attack the person in question.
Set a time limit for your children to "trick-or-treat." Also designate a specific route for them to take. Feed the kids before they go so they will be less likely to eat the treats before they get home. Warn them not to eat anything before you inspect it.
