With Halloween on its way it can be a very demanding time for parents, so why not keep the little ones occupied with these fun and easy Halloween recipes,

The recipes we have provided are aimed at parents and children having fun and enjoying the festive period, children love fun things and with these fun recipes that is what you will get.

Be prepared for a mess you have been warned,

Parental supervision is required at all times whilst following the Halloween recipes in practice.

Creepy Cup Cakes

Serves = 24

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound of unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups of cake flour or all purpose flour sifted
  • 1 table spoon of baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of milk

Step 1 : Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees

Step 2 : Place butter in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat it until it is light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the sugar and vanilla and beat until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, until combined.

Step 3 : Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add about 1/2 of the flour mixture to the butter, mix until incorporated, add about 1/2 the milk, mix until incorporated, add the remaining flour, mix until incorporated and finally add the rest of the milk, mix until incorporated.

Step 4 : Line muffin or cupcake tins with paper cupcake liners. Fill each liner about 3/4 full with batter. Bake in pre-heated oven about 15 to 20 minutes, or until cooked through and the top begins to turn golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.

Step 5 : Decorate as desired, Frost tops with orange-colored frosting, draw faces with melted chocolate or red-colored frosting.

Spooky Cookies

 Children have so much fun decorating these Halloween cookies.

Serves = 36

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg (to be beaten with milk)
  • 1 tablespoon of milk (for the egg)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Step 1 : Place butter and sugar in bowl of electric stand mixer with paddle-type attachment and beat at medium speed until light in color. Beat egg, milk and vanilla together in a small bowl until combined. Add egg, milk and vanilla mixture to butter and sugar and beat until incorporated.

Step 2 : While butter and sugar are mixing, place flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl, stir to combine and set aside until needed.

Step 3 : When butter, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla are well combined, turn mixer to low speed and add flour, one cup at a time, until all the flour is incorporated. Do not over-mix.

Step 4 : Divide dough into 2 equal pieces, press each piece into a flattened ball and wrap each piece in plastic film. Refrigerate dough at least 2 hours (or overnight) before shaping.

Step 5 : When dough is completely chilled, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sprinkle work surface with powdered sugar, remove one piece of dough from refrigerator, unwrap and place on work surface. Roll out dough with rolling pin to about 1/4-inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and place cookies, about 1-inch apart, on parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven about 8 to 12 minutes (depending on oven, size & thickness of cookie, etc.) or until cookies begin to brown on the edges.

 Step 6 : When cookies are done, remove cookie sheet from oven and let cookies cool for 3 to 5 minutes on the cookie sheet. Once cookies are partially cooled, remove from cookie sheet and let them finish cooling on a platter or wire rack.

Step 7 : When cookies are completely cooled, decorate as desired. Serve immediately or store in airtight container for up to 3 to 4 days.

You can cut cookies into Halloween shapes with cookie cutters if desired.


Scary Icing

Sevings : 36

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
  • 3 cups of powdered sugar
  • food colouring as desired

Step 1 : Place egg whites and vinegar in the bowl of a stand mixer or in a large bowl. Whip egg whites about 1 to 2 minutes until frothy. Add confectioner's sugar, 1/2-cup at a time, until all the sugar is incorporated. If mixture is too thick to beat, add 1 or 2 teaspoons of water to thin down. Do not add too much liquid. Beat mixture at medium speed about 3 to 4 minutes until the icing is thick and glossy.

Step 2 : Transfer icing to container and keep tightly covered until ready to use.

Step 3 : For Halloween cookies: Place about 1/2 of the icing in a smaller bowl, color with a few drops of orange food coloring, cover or place into a zip-top plastic bag and seal until needed. Divide remaining icing into 2 smaller bowls, color one with green food coloring and the other with red food coloring. Cover or place into a zip-top plastic bags and seal until needed. To pipe icing, cut off one corner of the bag and squeeze out icing as desired.

Step 4 : Ice round or pumpkin-shaped cookies with orange icing. Use green icing to create a stem and the red icing to make eyes, nose, mouth, etc


Chopped off Fingers (cookies)

Sevings : 48

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of basic sugar cookies
  • 1 cup of blanched almonds (48 pieces)
  • 1 table spoon of red colouring (as needed)

Step 1 : Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place almonds in a bowl, drizzle on enough red food coloring to coat almonds. Stir almonds around so that they are evenly colored. Place almonds on paper towel-lined platter to dry.

Step 2 : Work with one half of the dough at a time and keep the remainder refrigerated. Scoop dough into tablespoonful-sized balls. Roll each piece of dough into a finger shape. Press 1 almond, pointy-end out, firmly into 1 end of cookie finger to form a nail. Press the tines of a fork lightly into the dough just below the nail and in the center of the finger to form knuckles.

Step 3 : Place cookies, about 1-inch apart, on parchment-lined cookie sheets; bake for about 10 to 15 minutes or until pale golden. When cookies are done, let cool on cookie sheet for 3 minutes. Remove cookies to platter to cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough and almonds.


Frightening Frosting

Servings : 24

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups of vegetable shortening
  • 2 pounds of sugar powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoon of light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • food colouring as desired

Step 1 : Combine shortening, sugar, salt, corn syrup and vanilla in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat about 7 to 8 minutes or until very smooth. Add a little water (by teaspoonfuls) if necessary to achieve desired consistency.

Step 2 : Color frosting with food coloring if desired.


 Haunted Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of white chocolate
  • 1 packet of nutter butter peanut bars
  • 1 packet of mini chocolate chips

Step 1 : Melt the chocolate over a low heat in top of a double boiler.

Step 2 : Dip each cookie into the chocolate to cover thoroughly

Step 3 : Place covered cookie gently onto waxed paper until choclate is cool and has set.

Step 4 : Create eyes with the mini chocolate chips.

An easy and fun way to learn and children love this one of all ages.


Halloween Pizza

Servings : 2

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of bread dough
  • 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of Mozzarella cheese - shredded grated
  • 1 can of tomato sauce or puree
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder or 1 cloves of pressed garlic
  • 2 cups of cheddar cheese - shredded grated
  • 4oz of pepperoni sliced
  • Ripe olives - sliced
  • Green and Red pepper sliced

Step 1 : Heat the oven to 325 degrees

Step 2 : Dived the dough in half

Step 3 : Roll and stretch each half into a 10 to 12 inch circle on a lighlty floured baking sheet.

Step 4 : Turn up the edges 1/2 inch, pinch or pleat, and brush the circles with oil and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese around.

Step 5 : Mix the tomato sauce puree, diced onion, salt, oregano and garlic in a pot or bowl, the por on both pizza circles.

Step 6 : Sprinkle cheddar cheese over both pizzas.

Step 7 : Now the fun part, decorate the pizza with the pepperoni, peppers and olives, create scary faces buy using the olive slices as eyes, the peppers as eyebrows, and cut the pepperoni into triangles and use as teeth.

Step 8 : Now bake until the crust is brown 20 to 25 minutes depending on cooker speed and type.
